This past week saw yet another round of WWE releases, with the NXT brand again hit hard as Vince McMahon's sports entertainment behemoth wielded the axe.

Speaking on the PWTorch podcast (via WrestlingNews.co), Wade Keller has somewhat an update on Triple H's thoughts on this latest round of cuts.

Keller described the past few years of NXT as Triple "building his team" with an eye to Paul Levesque eventually taking control of the main roster. If and when the Game did get to oversee Raw and SmackDown, the NXT group he'd assembled was in place to progress with Triple H.

Wade specifically mentioned how William Regal, Gabe Sapolsky and 'Road Dogg' Brian James were in place to be Triple H's go-to crew should he get control over the main roster. Instead, all three of those names are now free agents after being fired this week.

In terms of how the King of Kings has reacted to these latest cuts, Keller mentioned how he'd not heard anything particularly newsworthy other than it sounds as if Triple is "bummed out" at so many pivotal pieces of the NXT jigsaw being discarded by the WWE decision makers.
