Backstage Update On WWE's Brand Split Status After Recent Crossovers
WWE brand split status update as major Raw and SmackDown crossovers continue.
It sounds like WWE's increasingly loose brand split is set to stay in its current state for the time being.
Fightful Select notes that there are no plans for recent crossovers featuring Raw and SmackDown stars "invading" the opposite show to slow down, particularly when it comes to The Bloodline.
This follows several months of frequent Raw/SmackDown visits from wrestlers housed on the opposite show. While Vince McMahon was never shy of breaking the split to enable cross-brand storylines, the situation has accelerated since his son-in-law, Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, became WWE's head of creative following the disgraced 77-year-old's July resignation.
The Bloodline's Sami Zayn, Solo Sikoa, and The Usos were on Raw this week, opening the show with a chaotic takeover segment. This led to several bouts throughout the broadcast - and the continuing of the group's ongoing feud with Kevin Owens. Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman were not with the group this time around.
Elsewhere, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus, two more SmackDown wrestlers, showed up as well. The former feud partners will challenge for The Usos' Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships on Friday's SmackDown.
