Bobby Lashley earned his shot at the WWE United States Championship Monday night, running the gauntlet to secure his spot at the Money in the Bank PLE.

The All Mighty sought revenge for last week's baby oil incident, spraying Theory back and spearing him off his platform. Afterward, Lashley issued a challenge for Theory's US title. Later on, Theory announced he had pitched the idea of Lashley running a gauntlet of three men to earn a title match at the upcoming PLE.

Chad Gable and Otis were the first two opponents, with Gable giving Lashley a run for his money and even cinching in the anklelock for a while. He would succumb to the Hurt Lock, and Otis would immediately attack. But even after battering Bobby for a while inside and outside the ring, Otis still was speared and looked to be beaten when Gable caused a DQ.

The third man up was none other than Theory himself, as the US champ tried to take Lashley out. But the All Mighty reversed an attempted ATL and turned it into a cradle for the surprise win, earning a title match. Yep, WWE went with the old "pin the champ to get a title match" trope.

Lashley still is one of the few monster babyfaces WWE seems intent on pushing, so it'll be interesting to see if he dethrones Theory, who clearly is one of Vince McMahon's big projects.
