Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan Hospitalised After A Fall
Wishing 'The Brain' a speedy recover.
In amidst all the Ryback blogs and Rose letters, some worrying news came out of the professional wrestling world yesterday.
WWE Hall of Famer 'Mean' Gene Okerlund took to Twitter to inform all the humanoids out there that fellow Hall of Famer Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan had been hospitalised following a fall. Heenan's wife, Cynthia Heenan, confirmed the news later in the day, adding that the Brain would be in the hospital for 72 hours at least due to low blood pressure.
Heenan revealed in 2002 that he was battling throat cancer, and despite recovering from the cancer his health has deteriorated dreadfully over the years. 2007 saw the Brain get reconstructive surgery on his jaw, which became infected two years later. He has also suffered a number of falls in that time, breaking his hip, pelvis and shoulder in the process.
In a world that is as cutthroat as professional wrestling it is difficult to find individuals who are universally loved. The Brain (or the Weasel, if you remember the 80s) is one such individual. His influence on professional wrestling can't be understated, and in many ways the late 80s wrestling boom in the WWF was built on Hulk Hogan vs. Bobby Heenan and his band of merry men.
Get well soon, Brain.
