WWE wrestler Brad Maddox has uploaded a YouTube video claiming he is trapped in a cave and is in need of the emergency services. The video was posted late on Tuesday night, with Maddox giving his last known location and imploring viewers to call the authorities. He looks to be in an emotional state and physically dishevelled. It's a worrying video. There is no immediate clarification if this is a shoot or a work, but given the seriousness of Maddox asking police to be called, that indicates he is genuinely in distress. The idea that it could be a work is because he's a pro wrestler, that's what pro wrestler's do, they fabricate things to create interest. However, taking it to the point where it involves authorities and requests for search teams is a strong sign that we shouldn't write this off as a fake. The cave is in the Yukatan peninsula, Mexico. Maddox had previously posted a couple of other earlier videos and they did seem a little odd. There's also the question of would he actually be able to have phone reception inside a cave? And why wouldn't he just use the internet to find an emergency services who he could contact himself, instead of using his time to upload a YouTube video. If this is a hoax then Maddox could find himself in trouble with the WWE. Involving international emergency services as part of a wrestling stunt is beyond the behaviour WWE would except from their superstars. He's representing his company. For now we have to react as if this news is real, we can't take chances on someone's life, Brad Maddox is lost in a cave with a little amount of water and is calling for people to notify authorities.
