Brodie Lee Denies His AEW Character Is Vince McMahon Parody
Mr. Brodie speaks in new Busted Open Radio interview.
AEW's Brodie Lee has conducted a new interview with SiriusXM's Busted Open Radio, touching on a number of topics relevant to his wrestling career - including recent suggestions that his current Mr. Brodie gimmick is a parody of Vince McMahon.
The former Luke Harper said the following on the topic:-
“Look, you take it however you want. I happen to be a fan of mafia movies, so that’s the way the character was portrayed for me. Like I said, I believe that the leadership style, the results speak for themselves. So, you people can take it any way you want. And trust me, I hear you. I hear everybody. But nothing was intentional. I have no reason to hate WWE. No reason to hate Vince McMahon, nothing like that. But you take it how you want.”
Lee's character debuted with a Vince reference, as he called the WWE Chairman an "out-of-touch old man who didn't believe in me." His behaviours remained similar to McMahon's in the ensuing weeks, most notably in a segment that saw Brodie mock Vince's infamous hatred of sneezing, and the comparisons continued.
Things have fortunately eased off since then, with Lee now set to challenge AEW World Champion Jon Moxley at Double Or Nothing on 23 May.
