Sports Illustrated's Justin Barrasso yesterday reported that the legal dispute between the brothers and their former employers, Anthem Sports and Entertainment (of which Impact is a subsidiary), is still no closer to its conclusion.

The two sides are squabbling over the ownership of the "Broken Universe" gimmick, which has not yet been trademarked.

A deal which would see the Hardys win the rights collapsed "within the past month", according to Barrasso, with Matt and Jeff unhappy at the terms offered.

Anthem reportedly wanted to keep 50% of "all Hardy revenue". This would have included money made from Jeff's art and music interests.

The agreement also would have seen the signing of a "non-disparagement clause", whereby the Hardys - including Matt's wife Reby - would incur monetary fines by criticising their ex-employers.

It has also been claimed that Matt was originally offered a creative role in order to extend his stay on Impact, a move later vetoed by Jeff Jarrett. Jeff, meanwhile, was promised a "lucrative" salary.
