As per WrestlingINC, WWE is making plans for what would essentially be an NXT Mexico brand that would spotlight Lucha Libre. Right now, it’s believed that plans for this show are in the extremely early stages, although there is one name currently being linked with the project.

That name is Chavo Guerrero Jr., who WWE is reported to be considering utilising as a consultant for this following his time in a similar role for Lucha Underground. And let’s face it, few people know Mexican wrestling and the history and impact of Lucha Libre quite as well as a Guerrero, right?

Already, the early word is comparing this project to what WCW tried back in 1993 with Telemundo Festival de Lucha. A pilot series for a Lucha-driven WCW show was filmed in January ’93, yet the episode never aired. In recent months, however, that Telemundo Festival de Lucha pilot has surfaced on the WWE Network under its Hidden Gems banner.
