Christian Cage Retains Impact World Championship At Emergence
The new Impact World Champion was successful in his first title defence at Emergence.
Capping off a legitimate rollercoaster of a 7 days, Christian Cage successfully defended his Impact World Championship against Brian Myers on last night's Emergence special.
After shockingly prising the belt away from The Belt Collector himself Kenny Omega on last week's first-ever AEW Rampage, Friday night saw the new reigning champ put his belt on the line against Myers inside of the Skyway Studios in Nashville.
Before putting away Myers on the special, Cage had officially retired the TNA World Championship on the latest episode of Impact, meaning that this first defence solely had the Impact World Championship on the line.
A golden future could well become a reality for the former WWE star as Cage will also find himself going one-on-one with The Cleaner again at September 5's All Out PPV, battling against Omega in an attempt to add the AEW World Championship to his own personal collection.
With said event still a few weeks away, though, expect some more twists and turns before the star determined to "Out Work Everyone" collides with AEW's resident big bad in front of a fiery Chicago crowd.
