Christian came out of retirement to face Randy Orton in an unsanctioned match on last night's WWE Raw.

This came about in the wake of Orton's "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever" with Edge at Backlash 2020, which 'The Viper' won. Randy claimed he felt like the 'Legend Killer' again after "humiliating and embarrassing" his former tag team partner, leading to Edge's best friend, Christian, emerging from the back.

Orton effectively goaded 'Captain Charisma' into accepting his first bout in over six years, telling Christian he knew he wanted one more match despite his lack of medical clearance. The puppeteer gave the 46-year-old the rest of the night to mull it over. Later, Christian confirmed his acceptance in a nervy interview with Charly Caruso, then met with Ric Flair backstage, ignoring the 16-time World Champion's advice to not "go out there and get hurt."

Christian should have listened. Flair double-crossed him as the match began, hitting him with a low blow, before Orton finished the job - and potentially Christian's career - with a vicious punt. It was the same move that felled Edge at Backlash and the three-count was elementary.

The "match" was over in seconds, though this was the first physical spot Christian has taken in a long, long time. There's no word on whether he'll return to work a move substantial bout down the road.
