CM Punk Paid For His AEW Rampage Ice Cream Bars
CM Punk footed the refreshments bill for his Chicago homecoming.
CM Punk's emotional pro wrestling return concluded with the 42-year-old promising a free ice cream bar to every fan in attendance at last week's AEW Rampage. These were then handed out as people were leaving the United Center, with hundreds of pictures flooding social media post-show.
Manufacturers Pretty Cool Ice Cream have now revealed that Punk paid for the bars himself.
The Logan Square-based shop uploaded a clip of the relevant line from Punk's promo on Instagram, accompanied by the following caption:-
Since we have been getting a lot of questions, yes the ice cream was on him- it wasn’t a publicity stunt dreamed up by promoters. He came to us on his own and asked us to help him do this 2 years ago, and finally the moment was right. Our small team worked tirelessly to hand make every bar, and CM Punk wrote the check for the entire bill himself.
This comes following Punk's comments during the post-Rampage media scrum, during which he revealed he was inspired by Andy Kaufman. The comedian-turned-wrestler was famous for taking New York City and Los Angeles crowds out for milk and cookies after shows.
Punk's grand return to wrestling was his first appearance in the sport for over seven years. He has already set up a match with Darby Allin, which goes down at All Out 2021 on 5 September.
