Cody Rhodes Shoots On "Daunting" WWE Schedule
'American Nightmare' opens up about life on the road with market leader.
Cody Rhodes has opened up about the "daunting" WWE schedule as he prepares to yet again take on Brock Lesnar, this time at SummerSlam 2023
'The American Nightmare' was on ESPN Radio’s Keyshawn, JWill & Max show (h/t Ewrestlingnews) and said
“The schedule...can be very daunting...If you’re someone who has a family like myself, my wife, and my daughter, that love, everyone has to know about the passion and about the sacrifice. I am very lucky in a sense that I have my own tour bus and that’s where I’m comfortably at right now. I’m very lucky because after 10 years of driving all over the roads with four wrestlers in a car screaming at each other trying to get food at two in the morning, I’m very lucky that I’m in this position. It’s tough, but I’ll say this. The tradeoff for what we do is so worth it. WWE, every city lately is one sell out after another and there’s been this really special thing that’s happening with our product, which is always popular, but right now it’s even on a different level. So that’s the tradeoff. Tonight, I could be as tired and grumpy as possible, my body may be a little banged up, Brock Lesnar threw me all around last week, but still like, you walk out in front of these crowds, and you can’t just be rejuvenated. It’s amazing, so for me, it’s a great trade off.”
Rhodes will likely take on 'The Beast' at 'The Biggest Party Of The Summer' having won and lost against him at Backlash and Night Of Champions respectively. He surprisingly returned to the company at WrestleMania 38, having walked away from his Executive Vice President and talent roles in All Elite Wrestling; the company he was integral to the formation of.
He's been a top star with the organisation ever since, despite a stint on the sidelines recovering from a torn pectoral muscle between May and December last year. Winning his first Royal Rumble upon his return in January, Rhodes was hotly tipped to "Finish The Story" and becoming Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania 39, but failure to do so only seemed to drive the believe that he'd do so at the 40th edition of the 'Show Of Shows'.
