Rey Mysterio has told the 'Not About Wrestling Podcast' that his son Dominik was set to debut under a mask before WWE ultimately changed their minds last-minute.

Officials were concerned that fans had already identified with Dom after seeing him accompany his famous father to ringside during feuds with both Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar. The general feeling behind the scenes was, 'It's too late to mask him now'.

Rey still thinks the idea is one Dominik can come back to in years to come. In fact, he believes that WWE could introduce a mask exclusively for his boy's matches - outside the ring, he says Dom could continue to appear without the hood. He didn't go into details on what WWE think about that though.

Both Rey and Dominik have been feuding with 'King' Corbin recently on SmackDown. It seems WWE are finally ready to move on from that now, so it'll be interesting to see what's next.

Last summer, it did look like the father and son duo were building some momentum as a tag-team. They could be ideal challengers for Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode on Friday nights.
