Did Vince McMahon's Return Improve WWE RAW Ratings?
Maybe the people want more McMahons after all.
It wasn't going to take much for WWE Monday Night RAW's ratings to improve following the abomination that was the Independence Day episode, but this past Monday's show saw an impressive spike in numbers. The show was headlined by Vince McMahon returning to WWE television with a big announcement.
That announcement would be that Stephanie and Shane McMahon would be the commissioners of RAW and SmackDown respectively, a decision that everyone assumed would be made anyway. The show attracted 3.170million sets of eyes, a big jump from the 2.658m that saw Big Show and Zack Ryder win a big multi-man match the week earlier.
Hour one brought in 3.042m, before a slight increase for the second hour with a number of 3.239m. The third hour managed to stick around this number as opposed to dropping off as usual, with 3.231m tuning in for that final hour. All of this left RAW at #5 for viewership on cable, and #4 in its cherished 18-49 demographic.
What it also means is that maybe, just maybe, the majority of WWE's audience still wants to see the McMahon Family all over their programming. Vince's returns generally bring about a spike in numbers, and whilst hardcore fans may be tired of Vince and his kids bickering on TV the casual viewer obviously isn't.
