2019 hasn't been kind to Kevin Owens, who, despite dipping in and out of the WWE Championship hunt a couple of times, has been portrayed as an in-ring loser, with him and ally Sami Zayn struggled to pick up victories with any kind of regularity, becoming worn-out punching bags for Raw and SmackDown babyfaces.

Now, it looks like the shoe might be on the other foot.

Owens had a strong night on yesterday's episode of SmackDown, with WWE seemingly turning him face throughout the night. It began in the opening segment, when Owens refused to read Shane McMahon's pre-prepared cue cards during a KO Show angle, sparking the ire of the 'Best in the World' and Drew McIntyre.

The "good guy" vibes continued in the night's main event, where Owens teamed with a frosty partner in Dolph Ziggler to face Heavy Machinery. They lost, with KO taking the pin, but Owens blasted him with a Stunner to close the show. "One more time!" chants filled the building. The crowd were into it.

An unexpected development, but a welcome one. Let's hope the apparent turn brings the credibility Owens needs at the moment.
