AJ Styles emerged from last night’s WWE Raw as the number one contender to Drew McIntyre’s WWE Championship, besting Keith Lee and Riddle in a Triple Threat.

The match came together as part of a two-week mini-tournament. Lee, Styles, and Riddle won qualifying bouts on Raw’s 23 November episode and went to battle here, with ‘The Phenomenal One’ eventually pinning Riddle after nailing him with the Phenomenal Forearm. AJ’s match with McIntyre was then confirmed for the 20 December pay-per-view.

Styles sat on commentary as McIntyre and Sheamus faced The Miz and John Morrison in the main event, hitting Drew with a Phenomenal Forearm to prompt a disqualification. Afterwards, he coaxed The Miz into cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase, only for McIntyre to go after both heels, eventually chasing AJ into Omos’ waiting arms.

McIntyre vs. Styles is the only match set for TLC 2020 at the time of writing. As reported previously, Braun Strowman was pegged to face Drew at the event but was ruled out after suffering a knee injury at Survivor Series 2020, leading to an in-storyline suspension.

There is currently no word on whether or not WWE will attach a stipulation to Styles vs. McIntyre.
