Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Is The Highest Paid Actor Of All Time
Not bad for a guy who started off with just $7 in his wallet.
Forbes have announced that Dwayne Johnson is the highest paid actor in the magazine's 20 year history.
They revealed that he earned an astonishing $124 million from June 2017 to June 2018, nearly double what he earned in the previous year ($65m) and more than any actor on Forbes' Celebrity 100 list ever.
Johnson ranked 5th overall and earned his total thanks to upfront paychecks and a cut of profits on blockbusters including 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle'. He also negotiated a seven-figure salary for posting about his films on his own social media pages.
The man who infamously had just $7 in his wallet when he was cut from the Canadian Football League in 1995, got his first leading role in The Scorpion King in 2002. He's since gone on to star in The Fast and the Furious franchise, voiced Maui in Disney's Moana and is currently promoting Skyscraper, which is out now in cinemas.
Johnson reacted to the news on Instagram, saying:-
"I work extremely hard but never anticipated (in my wildest dreams) I'd become the highest paid actor in Forbes' history. My goal when I was wrestling in flea markets for $40 per match is the exact same goal I have today - ALWAYS put my AUDIENCE FIRST. I'm grateful to the bone and hungry to the core."
