ECW Original Balls Mahoney Has Died, Aged 44
Jonathan Rechner died suddenly at his home on Monday.
Balls Mahoney, an ECWOriginal and former WWEwrestler passed away on Monday, aged just 44.
According to PWInsider, Mahoney (real name Jonathan Rechner)took a nasty fall a few days ago which left him with a badly hurt hip that was causing him much pain and discomfort. He was reportedly in need of a walker to get around before he became ill and sadly died.
Chris Candido's brother Johnny broke the unfortunate news online after a friend informed him him that ambulances were parked in front of Mahoney's house on Monday and when he called his wife, she confirmed that he had passed suddenly in their home.
The tragic, untimely death of Mahoney deprives us of another wrestler so young in 2016 and it's hard not to think about the death of Axl Rotten in February, who was close to Mahoney and whose career often overlapped.
Mahoney was a recognisable performer for ECWat the peak of its existence, wrestling for them from1997 rightup until its closure in 2001. He was also hired by WWEto performon the ECWOneNight Stand revival show of 2005 and then on a permanent basis for WWE'sECWrevival brand from 2006-2008.
Mahoney also had a brief run in with WWEin 1995 before he went to ECW, performing as Xanta Klaus at In Your House 5:Seasons Beatings and a couple of TVappearances after.
