Moon will be returning to her old ring name, Athena, which she used prior to signing with WWE.
Having long since established herself as one of the most exciting wrestlers on the independent scene, Moon was picked up by the market leaders in September 2015, signing a development contract. Debuting on television 11 months later, a successful NXT run brought feuds with the likes of Asuka and peaked with a Women's Championship win in November 2017, before she was moved to the main roster the following year, working both Raw and SmackDown following her "promotion."
A serious injury suffered in late 2019 put her career in threat, though Moon returned to action in NXT in November 2020. A year later, she was released as part of another round of brutal WWE "budget cuts."
Moon and 10 others officially became free agents when their 90-day non-compete clauses expired earlier this week.
