Eric Bischoff believes that Vince McMahon's surprise appearance on last Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown was a success.

The former WCW boss told listeners on his '83 Weeks' podcast that he watched the opening promo "a couple of times". Why? Well, Bisch "wanted to try to get a feel for Vince". In other words, Eric was doing his best to read between the lines and figure out why McMahon would agree to appear considering the circumstances.

WWE shockingly announced Vince for SmackDown on Friday afternoon despite allegations of sexual misconduct being reported; McMahon showed up on Monday's Raw too, but Bischoff's pod was released before that.

Eric figures that Vince was "taking this one last opportunity [to appear in front of fans] just in case he’s not really sure how this is gonna end up". He then added: "If this is his goodbye, that was a good one".

Many fans on Twitter couldn't disagree more with Bischoff's sentiments. McMahon's promo was the talk of the town immediately afterwards - most wondered why he'd even bothered to show face and ring off WWE's, "Then, Now, Together, Forever" catchphrase.
