ESPN's Michelle Beadle Blasts WWE For Triple H's Support Of Floyd Mayweather
Beadle calls out The Game due to Mayweather's domestic abuse convictions.
1,200-word post on Tuesday, Beadle was unapologetic about her decision, basing it on Mayweathers documented history of domestic violence, with some of the abuse reportedly taking place in front of his own children. In the lead-up to the much-anticipated May 2nd bout between Mayweather and Manny Pacquaio, stories continued to surface about Moneys domestic abuse incidents and allegations of Las Vegas authorities whitewashing these crimes to help preserve Mayweathers public image. Mayweather resides in Nevada, and the May 2nd fight took place in Vegas. Beadle had become outspoken about Mayweathers domestic violence convictions, which she said led to her press credentials for the boxing match being pulled just days before the event. Beadle and CNNs Rachel Nichols, another sportscaster who has covered Floyds convictions, both had their credentials pulled, then reinstated. Of course, Mayweather is connected to WWE through his WrestleMania XXIV match against Big Show in 2008, which Money won. WWE ran a half-hour special on that match the week of the Mayweather-Pacquaio fight, promoting it strongly. Shortly after Mayweather won to remain undefeated, Triple H tweeted his congratulations, which is what pushed Beadle over the edge. https://twitter.com/TripleH/status/594730860294893569 Its interesting that Beadle has taken such a strong, public stand against WWE, considering that she has interacted with and interviewed WWE superstars numerous times throughout the years. Just days before WrestleMania XXXI, she interviewed Brock Lesnar when he broke the news that he was retiring from UFC and had re-signed with WWE. Beadle has faced some criticism for her decision to publicly denounce WWE over Triple Hs relationship with Mayweather, but as Beadle pointed out, the company itself has a zero tolerance policy toward domestic abuse, with any conviction resulting in that performers termination. With that in mind, it is hypocritical of a WWE executive to use his Twitter account to publicly congratulate Mayweather. The stories about the convictions and even Beadles dustup before the fight were not hard to find in the days before the bout, so Triple H probably should have exercised better judgment before posting. One can also argue that Michelle Beadle took it a step too far in declaring shes no longer a fan of WWE, but she definitely helped cast another spotlight on the controversy surrounding Mayweather. Whether she and Triple H have any kind of reconciliation remains to be seen. What do you think about this issue? Do you agree with Michelle Beadle? Do you think that Triple H was justified in tweeting to Mayweather? Sound off in the comments below.
