NXT 2.0 is supposed to represent a new era for WWE's developmental brand, though the promotion isn't picking things up on the announcement front, having confirmed only a single match for tonight's show.

Kushida will defend his Cruiserweight Championship against Roderick Strong in a match originally booked for NXT's 17 August episode. Having last wrestled for WWE on the 6 August 205 Live episode (taped on 21 July), Kushida confirmed he had tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month.

WWE have punched up the following blurb for the match:-

The countdown is on for the NXT Cruiserweight Title showdown between Kushida and Roderick Strong. After the match was previously postponed, “The Diamond One” has not been shy in calling out The Time Splitter and promising a changing of the guard for the championship. The NXT Cruiserweight Champion has done his best to stay one step ahead of The Diamond Mine, but with the recent additions of The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile, will the numbers game prove too much to overcome?

NXT 2.0 was rebooted last week, with the brand shooting for a brighter, more colourful presentation to complement its host of new stars, including Bron Breakker, Von Wagner, Trick Williams, and more. Whether or not WWE will introduce more wrestlers tonight remains to be seen.
