Former WWE star Melina Perez has admitted she's currently struggling to "adapt" to the changes in modern pro wrestling's in-ring style.

The ex-(three time) WWE Women's Champion told fans tuning into her Asylum Wrestling Store virtual signing on Facebook that she's also confused about whether or not she still has the wrestling bug. On that, Melina said: "It's in me, but it's not".

Explaining, Perez went on to suggest that the current focus on in-ring excellence over story and character doesn't really do it for her. She was reared on WWE's way of doing things, and much prefers that "sports entertainment" style over most of what fans see in major companies today.

Melina then said it "depresses" her and makes her "sad" when she's tasked with working a scenario that isn't fleshed out story-wise or particularly interesting from a character standpoint. "This is not the wrestling I know and love, and it makes me hate working", she added.

Ouch.

Perez has only worked four matches on the independent scene since appearing in WWE's 2022 Royal Rumble as a surprise cameo. Her honest words on Facebook might explain why.
