Freddie Prinze Jr. has ambitious plans to open his own wrestling promotion within the next 18 months.

The former WWE writer unpacked this during Wednesday's episode of his Wrestling With Freddie podcast, explaining that the idea came from making connections after helping a friend who, at the time, was with a promotion attempting to get a television deal. Following a positive meeting with The CW Television Network, he started putting ideas down for his own company, before being encouraged to check out leading group GCW by WWE personality Sam Roberts.

Following this, Prinze Jr. started doing heavier research, watching a multitude of promotions, listening to various wrestling podcasts, and exploring options for venues. Later, on Twitter, he revealed that he came close to purchasing a Los Angeles venue that would've allowed rooftop shows:-

Continuing, the I Know What You Did Last Summer star said he plans on working on a few films, buying a venue, and getting things running within 18 months. A realtor is already looking at property on his behalf - and he believes he already has enough money in the coffers to run for at least three years.

Prinze Jr. would ideally like to run a two-hour television product featuring reality-based storylines. Additionally, equal time would be dedicated to men and women. He will be encouraging his wrestlers to join the Screen Actors Guild, a union, giving them several benefits.

The process is already underway, too. Prinze Jr. has invested in lighting equipment, though he isn't looking at hiring personnel yet.
