Finn Bálor Returns On WWE SmackDown
The former NXT Champ popped WWE's live crowd on Friday's blue brand special.
Finn Bálor returned to WWE television on last night's special edition of SmackDown.
The Irishman, who was last seen on NXT's 25 May episode (where he lost a title rematch to Karrion Kross), gatecrashed a Sami Zayn conspiracy rant and battered the heel with his double stomp. Meanwhile, the near-15,000 inside Houston's Toyota Center went suitably nuts.
This was a cool moment.
Zayn was screeching about the fact he won't be involved on this Sunday's Money In The Bank pay-per-view from Fort Worth. He ranted and raved for so long that some likely knew a surprise was coming, and they were right - Bálor's music tore the bloody house down.
It remains to be seen if WWE will shoehorn Bálor vs. Sami onto Sunday's show after all. That's a possibility, but SmackDown's writers might want to keep something back for next week's TV instead. For now, those in attendance can bask in the afterglow of a surprise return done well.
Finn received some pop, and he'll be hoping that's a springboard to bigger and better things on the "main roster". His last run on Raw wasn't so hot.
