As if WWE's ridiculously wonderful 50-man Royal Rumble set to be held in Saudi Arabia on 27 April wasn't already exciting enough, the company have today announced a quintet of entrants for the supersized stramash who ratchet anticipation up just that extra notch.

In a press release on the promotion's official website, WWE named returnee Daniel Bryan, perennials Kane and Big Show, and bearded former cultmates Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt as the first five confirmed names for the Jeddah jamboree.

These five only represent 10% of the total participants (no, really), but there's a lot of intrigue in this one-hand's worth. Bryan's inclusion confirms that his WrestleMania return is anything but a one-and-done, and whilst a Royal Rumble can easily be navigated without taking any major bumps, his presence has to be seen as indication that he'll be strapping on the boots more regularly post New Orleans.

Kane and Big Show, once inevitable features on any WWE supershow, have been increasingly absent of late as politics and the unstoppable march of time take their toll. Anyone tipping Big Show - who has been pumping iron like Ted Hughes' giant after a curry - as Braun Strowman's possible WrestleMania partner can point to his future schedule as portending a big Louisiana comeback.

Even Bray's announcement is interesting, contrary to the usual apathy. Rumours have abounded that the Eater of Worlds is due a character makeover post April 8th's Show of Shows; being listed for the Saudi supershow suggests that, at the very least, he'll retain his current persona for a few weeks yet.
