Rollins made clear his intentions to win the belt shortly after its reveal on the April 27th edition of Monday Night Raw, and this was allegedly done with the idea of him seeing that through at Night Of Champions in May.

This is according to GiveMeSport via WrestleVotes, who said;

"With the new title, I've heard he's a very strong candidate to be the first guy. No doubt about it, Seth is your leading candidate.'

Regarding Cody Rhodes being a possible contender, WrestleVotes added;

"Cody is wrapped into the Roman storyline. He needs to be the guy to beat him so the first champion shouldn't be Cody, right? By giving him this new title, it's not going to do anything for the title, or for him."

Rollins is set to take on Omos at Backlash, but cut a promo making clear his designs on the strap revealed by Triple H. The gold is the first new top title for the company since the 2016 launch of the Undisputed Championship. A tournament will determine the first winner at the Night Of Champions Premium Live Event, taking place on May 27th in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
