Former WWE Title-Holder Debuting For AEW Next Week
He held gold in WWE - but can he repeat the feat in his first AEW match?
Bobby Fish will debut on next week's episode of AEW Dynamite, challenging for Sammy Guevara's newly won TNT Championship.
This surprising string of developments came together last night. Guevara defeated Miro in Dynamite's main event, pinning the now-former TNT Champion after a flurry of moves to capture his first piece of gold in the promotion. This led to Fish, a former NXT Tag Team Champion, tweeting the following challenge:-
I’d like to congratulate the new TNT Champion @sammyguevara and be the first to challenge him for that title. Ready to walk through the forbidden door! @AEWonTNT

Sammy then addressed Fish during last night's debut episode of Rhodes to the Top, accepting the challenge in an interview with Tony Schiavone. The match is now set for next week's two-year anniversary Dynamite show.
Fish, 44, became a free agent after being released from his WWE contract on 6 August. He has since been announced for appearances with MLW, enabled by him being beholden to a 30-day non-compete clause as an NXT wrestler, rather than the standard 90 days that departing main roster WWE wrestlers are typically bound by.
The match gives the impression that the TNT Title could be returning to its roots, when the first champion, Cody Rhodes, would regularly invite outside performers to contest the belt on Dynamite. This will become clearer over the coming weeks.
