Fuego Del Sol's AEW Contract Signing Was A Shoot
Tony Khan claims Fuego Del Sol had no idea he'd be leaving AEW Rampage with a legitimate contract.
Fuego Del Sol finally signed an All Elite Wrestling contract last week, as Sammy Guevara (via company founder Tony Khan) presented the sentimental Dark and Elevation fan favourite with a deal despite his Rampage loss to TNT Champion Miro.
Per Khan himself, the post-match angle was a "complete shoot."
Fuego had no idea he was going to be given an actual AEW contract after a match that stipulated he'd receive one in the event of a victory. Thus, the emotion he showed when Guevara showed up was as real as the situation itself.
Khan told Sports Illustrated's Justin Barrasso the following:-
“That was a complete shoot. Fuego had no idea that was going to happen. Sammy was the only person I told, and Fuego was legitimately surprised to receive the contract he’s been dreaming of and chasing.”
Fuego has been a regular on AEW's YouTube shows since May 2020, when he started appearing on Dark. The Rampage match with Miro was the first time he had appeared on a TNT broadcast though the crowd's strong response to him shows how popular he has become in his enhancement role.
A video of Fuego's contract signing and the aftermath has been uploaded to AEW's YouTube channel:-
AEW is yet to announce the 25-year-old's first match as a contracted wrestler.
