Bill Goldberg found his WrestleMania 36 experience totally "miserable".

The former two-time Universal Champion rolled up to last year's 'Mania thinking he'd be working against Roman Reigns for that belt. Instead, due to Roman's self-imposed sabbatical, Goldberg ended up working with Braun Strowman on the card.

WWE went ahead with a title change anyway, but Goldberg told FOX Sports that the situation was "extremely difficult". He wasn't going to mouth off and complain to Vince McMahon or anyone else about it at the time though - Bill also described himself as "a soldier, not a general", and said his own personal thoughts were meaningless because nobody could put things right.

He and Braun just had to plod on and do their best.

The two-minute match is one that Goldberg would like to forget. It was tough for him to find his "passion" for work that day, and he doesn't enjoy reminiscing about wrestling Strowman at all; that's nothing personal, he claims, but rather more to do with the cancellation of the Reigns match.

Goldberg will challenge Drew McIntyre for the WWE Title this Sunday at the 2021 Royal Rumble.
