How Drew McIntyre Foreshadowed This Explosive WWE Fastlane 2021 Spot
Sparks flew as Drew McIntyre turned an apparent AEW dig into a big Fastlane 2021 spot...
It turns out Drew McIntyre's line about unfulfilled promises on last week's WWE Raw wasn't a shot at AEW, but a (likely coincidental) piece of foreshadowing for Fastlane 2021.
McIntyre dropped the following in a promo segment with Bobby Lashley and MVP:-
“I noticed that MVP made some guarantees tonight. That’s such a dangerous thing to do in this industry. If you make a guarantee and don’t deliver, fans get upset and sparks fly. Now, I’m going to make a guarantee right now. At Fastlane, Sheamus and I are going to produce a level of physicality that has never been seen before.”
This was interpreted as an AEW barb following the widely-mocked non-explosion at Revolution 2021. Drew rubbished this interpretation after the show, saying he doesn't like the inter-promotional shots.
Fast-forward to last night's Fastlane 2021 pay-per-view. McIntyre and Sheamus went one-on-one, with their No Holds Barred match bringing them halfway up the ThunderDome's video wall. While up there, McIntyre countered Sheamus' attempt to throw him down the rows, shoving his opponent through a line of screens and to whatever lay below.
Sparks and puffs of smoke shot up as Sheamus hit the ground below. "The sparks fly as Sheamus is sent through those screens!" was the call during the first replay.
Did WWE connect these dots on purpose? Perhaps not, so let's do it for them.
