How Will AEW Collision's Success Levels Be Measured?
Update on what Warner Bros. Discovery will see as "success" for AEW Collision.
When it comes to gauging AEW Collision's success, AEW's media partners, Warner Bros. Discovery, are more interested in Saturday night's weekly television rankings above all other metrics.
Fightful Select has reported as much. WBD has aired Collision at 8 PM ET on Saturdays via its TNT station since 17 June, with the group confirming they are more concerned with the rankings than a specific P2+ or P18-49 number.
AEW itself did not respond to Fightful's inquiries on the matter. WBD noted the above, as well as stating they expect stiff competition from college football this fall - though the network will consider a top-five finish a success for the new brand.
All television shows in the United States are ranked by performance in the key 18-49 demographic.
It is understood that how Collision fares will be "integral towards AEW landing a new media rights deal." The promotion's current contract with Warner is set to expire in January 2024, with renegotiations expected to kick in later this year. Talks are currently ongoing to that effect.
Last week's AEW Collision drew 452,000 P2+ viewers, including 172,000 aged 18-49 for a P18-49 rating of 0.13. There is no word on how the show ranked on the night following the dissolution of ratings reporting site Showbuzz Daily.
