Huge Backstage Update On Scott D'Amore's TNA Firing
More controversy emerging from the shocking TNA firing of Scott D'Amore.
The ructions from the surprising TNA departure of Scott D'Amore to continue to rumble on.
The longstanding Impact Wrestling/TNA President parted ways with the company last week in a situation that parent company Anthem reported as "amicable", but just about everybody else near to the company and/or D'Amore suggested otherwise.
This has now been corroborated by Fightful Select, who offered a significant update on the ongoing dispute. Their detailed report said;
"Fightful Select has learned that although the news was a shock to many, including the roster, the wheels were in motion for D’Amore’s termination a month prior. D’Amore adamantly did not want to leave TNA, though Anthem had stated that they wished to present it as a mutual departure. D’Amore was insistent that the two sides did not refer to it as his decision to leave or a mutual departure. There were talent who claimed that it was relayed to them that D’Amore stepped down, but that wasn’t the case. Beyond that, Ontario, where Anthem is based, has strict employment laws for employers, and not agreeing that the departure was mutual was in the best interest of D’Amore moving forward.There was correspondence between the two sides to aid in the transition to new President Antony Cicione into the role. We’re told that D’Amore has spoken highly of Cicione, but was reiterated that he didn’t want to leave the role."
Many wrestlers spoke publicly of their admiration for D'Amore following his firing, and reports later suggested that the Canadian had attempted to buy TNA, such was his interest in remaining integral to the organisation. The purchase attempts were evidently rejected.
D'Amore had been in and out of the group in multiple roles during its multiple iterations since 2003, and had been back full time since 2017. He was promoted to President in 2023 and was the public face of the well-received TNA rebrand.
