Hulk Hogan Created His WWE Finisher BY ACCIDENT

The 'Leg Drop Of Doom' was created in New Japan, brother!

Fans watching Hulk Hogan matches in the 1980s expected him to tear off his shirt, cup his ear, boot some fool in the face and drop a leg for the one, two, three. It was bound to happen, and audiences lapped up any and all 'Hulkamania' goodness.

That big finish wouldn't have happened if Hogan hadn't been experimenting in New Japan.

Years earlier, Hulk was working over in Japan and trying to think of transitional spots he could use to pad out his matches. At one point, he ran against the ropes and performed a leg drop across his opponent's neck and face. The crowd went wild.

Hogan told WWE.com's 'The Story Of' that he couldn't believe the reaction coming the stands. After the match, wheels began turning in Hulk's head, and he decided to give the move a go when he returned to the United States. To his surprise, people exploded again, and they appreciated all the histrionic posing before the move too.

Japanese fans had inadvertently created a monster Hulk would run with for the rest of his active wrestling career. Without their big pop, there wouldn't be a 'Leg Drop Of Doom'.
