IMPACT Wrestler's Contract Extended Due To Injury
This IMPACT Wrestling star will be sticking around for at least a year longer...
Heath has revealed that his IMPACT Wrestling contract has been extended due to time missed through injury.
Speaking on the Stories With Brisco & Bradshaw podcast, the former WWE Tag Team and 24/7 Champion explained that his initial two-year deal with the Anthem-helmed promotion had been extended by a further year. This is a result of the hernia and subsequent surgery he had to go through shortly after signing with IMPACT in 2020 (h/t Figure Four Online/The Wrestling Observer):-
"I had two years with them, but my contract extended a year because I got hurt, had surgery, I was out for a year, rehab, therapy, all that good stuff. Now, they've put Humpty Dumpty back together, I'm ready to go out there and have some fun."
The 38-year-old worked for WWE as Health Slater from 2006 to 2020, when he was let go as part of the market leaders' first round of roster cuts at the COVID-19 pandemic's onset. Debuting for IMPACT four days after his 90-day non-compete clause expired in July 2020, Heath entered a "free agent" storyline similar in nature (but not execution) to the one he embarked on after going unpicked in the 2016 WWE Draft, reuniting with former tag team partner Rhino in the process.
Injured at Bound for Glory 2020 that October, Heath was sidelined until September 2021, when he mounted his comeback. He recently headlined March's Sacrifice pay-per-view as Moose's IMPACT World Championship challenger.
Given his initial two-year deal started in July 2020, it is likely safe to assume that following the extension, Heath will be bound to IMPACT until summer 2023.
