Sad news for Impact Wrestling fans, as the near two-decade run of Xplosion may be over.

Impact Wrestling's prominent secondary show Xplosion has been put on hiatus indefinitely, as reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider.

Johnson writes that Xplosion hasn't officially been outright canned, however, an executive decision resulted in more focus being put towards the production of their new weekly show, Before The Impact. It aired its third episode this week, with James Storm vs. Rohit Raju.

For diehard Impact fans, this sucks. Xplosion was once an important part of the company, having first aired in November 2020, mere months after Impact - then NWA: TNA - officially debuted.

In terms of its importance to the week-to-week stories, Xplosion never really had a major factor in this. You'd get the odd championship contest, always being for a lower-ranked title, but you rarely got any of the big hitters on the show. It was simply a way to get guys some screen time who wouldn't have gotten it otherwise.

Sadly for Xplosion, Before The Impact has fulfilled that role, while also adding in a tremendous three-person broadcast team, skits that range from alright to brilliant, and, you guessed it, play a role in the weekly story arcs with matches often being made on the show.
