An erroneous report claiming that WWE had sold only 7,805 tickets for Elimination Chamber 2024 has seemingly prompted laughter at company headquarters.

The premium live event occurs at Perth, Australia's 61,266-capacity Optus Stadium on 24 February, 2024. In the 11 December Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote that the promotion had shifted just 7,805 seats for the show, hence why WWE was already offering discounted deals.

This has since been corrected to read:

Elimination Chamber in Perth, Western Australia is in excess of 30,000 (that’s a stadium show so that’s why they are already discounting).

Before the correction, Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp dug into the matter - which is where the "chuckles at WWE HQ" line came from. SRS stated, on X, that Elimination Chamber: Perth was already north of 30,000 ticket sales:

I followed up on this, and it caught some chuckles at WWE HQ. But I got some more info. According to internal live event ticketing reports that some staff has access to, the show is already north of 30K tickets sold. They're sending Rhea Ripley and Dom to do media in Perth this week too. That would put it as one of their biggest shows as far as tickets outside of WrestleMania.

When asked about the show, leading wrestling ticketing outlet WrestleTix stated their belief that Meltzer had aggregated an incorrect number from their own records in the WON:

Happy to help clear up some confusion. I think Dave read the wrong number from my spreadsheet (available count). I haven't finished an estimate for this show yet but it far exceeds 7K from what I've seen so far. It is true there is a deal being offered for the show too.

Either way, the Observer's figure was wrong, WWE officials had a good laugh at it, and now it has been corrected.
