The injury that saw WWE NXT's Dexter Lumis pulled from TakeOver XXX's North American Title ladder match is legitimate.

While the promotion has a habit of working things like this, particularly in NXT's weekly Injury Report, the Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online's Bryan Alvarez has stated that Lumis was hurt while performing a flip-dive over the top rope during his 29 July match with Finn Balor and Timothy Thatcher.

The spot was clearly heavily-edited for television, missing several frames as Lumis went over the top and hit the outside. Lumis took a rough landing, though he worked through the pain, finishing a match that saw him claim victory by putting Thatcher to sleep with his Silence finisher.

The 31 July NXT Injury Report noted that Dexter had suffered an osteochondral lesion of the talus. In layman's terms, his angle is busted up. There's currently no word on when he'll be back in action or if he'll need to go under the knife, though there's a chance he may be absent for a while.

Lumis has become an unlikely emergent babyface in NXT over the past few months, growing into an increasingly prominent role on Wednesday nights.
