Is John Cena About To Retire From WWE?
Could this be the end for the 16-time World Champion?
John Cena's WWE appearances have never been as sporadic as they are at the moment, with the 16-time World Champion making only a handful of shows over the past couple of years.
The last time he wrestled a big singles match was at the Greatest Royal Rumble back in April 2018. He revived his 'Doctor Of Thugonomics' character to banter Elias into oblivion at WrestleMania 35, but has remained absent ever since, with the 42-year-old seemingly winding down in favour of a career in Hollywood.
Cena has today commented on his wrestling future in a new interview with TMZ Sports. In it, he claims that stepping away from the squared circle is "something [he's] been thinking about lately," noting that in light of the criticism thrown at Goldberg and The Undertaker after Super ShowDown, it's up to the individual (and nobody else) to decide when to retire.
Last week saw Cena added to the cast of Fast & Furious 9, which should be his biggest movie role so far. All signs point towards him attacking to mirror Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's career in other forms of entertainment. Best of luck to him.
