It's actually a bit surprising that it took this long, but James Ellsworth revealed at a Big Time Wrestling event that he has been given a contract by WWE.

This news was reported by WrestlingInc, who also has footage of his promo from Altoona, PA:

Ellsworth had his first match for WWE on 25 July, where he was squashed by Braun Strowman. He then popped up a few more times before becoming a regular last month. It was rumored that he would be signing on with the company over the past few weeks, but they finally offered him a deal.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out for both sides. Ellsworth has done great work, but it seems like his role may not be something you can push on a year-round basis. It may have been better from an entertainment standpoint to have him make the occasional cameo in the coming years.

Vince McMahon obviously likes the guy, and may see him as a Hornswoggle-type act where he's mainly used for comedic purposes and is largely kept out of the ring. Or maybe, he'll start giving him a bit of credibility. We'll find out how this plays out, and if Ellsworthmania has lasting potential.
