According to comments made during an interview with Sportskeeda, controversial former SmackDown colour commentator JBL isn't finished with WWE.

The heel announcer left the broadcast position earlier this month and has since been replaced by Raw colour man Corey Graves on Tuesday nights.

During the interview, Layfield said he had things he wanted to do outside WWE that were impossible when holding down a full-time schedule, but that he will always consider himself part of the 'WWE family'. He also revealed that he could be around for WrestleMania season.

After saying he is "thrilled" to continue his 21-year stint with WWE, JBL then said he would be returning for both 'Mania and the annual Tribute To The Troops shows.

The agreement between WWE and their former World Champion extends to a few appearances each year, and the same goes for JBL's former tag-team partner Ron Simmons. Being able to meet up with his old friend and attend WWE events sporadically is something Layfield said he loves doing.

JBL's voluntary departure from SmackDown came months after he was embroiled in bullying allegations with ex-SmackDown play-by-play man Mauro Ranallo.
