Jerry Jarrett Pushing For An 'American Idol' Wrestling Show
A pilot episode of Olympus Wrestling has already been shot...
The Wrestling Observer are reporting that ex-WWE and TNA man Jerry Jarrett wants to pitch an 'American Idol show' to TV network big wigs.
Jarrett's team (called Olympus Wrestling) has already shot a pilot episode this past April. Jim Cornette, Col Robert Parker and Kitty Galore were the main judges, and their job, just like on music show American Idol, was to critique 16 wrestlers on their performances after the fact.
It's an interesting idea, no doubt, one Jarrett wants to take it to a bigger stage. Dave Meltzer speculated that Scott Hall would replace Galore on the panel full time if Olympus Wrestling does take off.
At the pilot tapings, one fan from the audience was also plucked from the stands to add a fourth opinion. It's unclear whether or not that would be a trope of the show going forward, or if it was a one-off designed to encourage fan interaction that night.
Details are sketchy overall on Jarrett's grand plans; the Observer didn't reveal there'd been any talks between Jarrett and TV networks, or specifically lay out how the show would be broadcast full stop.
