Kazuchika Okada Proposes MASSIVE Wrestling Supershow
The New Japan favourite wants WWE, AEW, AAA and more to get on board.
New Japan hero Kazuchika Okada has proposed a huge supershow for 2021.
The former five-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion told Sports Illustrated that he believes pro wrestling should unite in the face of "tough times". He wants NJPW, WWE, AEW, AAA, CMLL and others to rally together and "bring joy to everyone all over the world".
Okada also thinks such a joint effort would "give [fans] enough strength and positivity to do their best the next day". That's a lovely sentiment, but it's highly unlikely such a blockbuster event could take place.
The celebrated workhorse did play a big part in April 2019's co-promoted G1 Supercard with ROH at Madison Square Garden. It seems he'd be hoping for something even bigger this time around, if only to show that wrestling stands together.
Continuing, Okada said that he wants "to show how powerful professional wrestling is". He closed the interview with SI by saying, "I want to cheer everyone up with that power".
What a guy.
Again though, it's hard to see WWE (in particular) agreeing to such a union. Would you like to see it? If so, what kind of dream inter-promotional matches would you book?
