Kevin Owens pitched hard backstage to get a match with The Undertaker at WWE WrestleMania 32. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Owens badly wanted the April 3 spot, but it "isnt happening." Owens is a solid in-ring wrestler and is effective on the mic, but it isn't too surprising to hear that WWE don't quite see him at The Undertaker level. He's operated as mid-carder for months, and just doesn't have the momentum to suddenly co-main event WrestleMania. Recently, he has been doing jobs for Dolph Ziggler. Like all the wrestlers, he would have loved The Undertaker spot at Mania, and he obviously felt he could make a good case for the match when pitching it backstage. It wouldn't have just been the prestige, it would have also been one of the best paying spots on the show. Of course he would have wanted the match, but WWE and perhaps Taker just don't see it as big enough. Unless John Cena returns, there isn't any clear match for The Undertaker. Rumours of a Braun Strowman bout are now done, that isn't happening. It could even be the case that Taker just decides to skip Mania entirely, waiting it out for the Cena match at next year's event.
