After 15 months away from a wrestling ring, Lacey Evans will make her return to action next week on WWE Raw.

Evans last competed in February 2021, at a point when she was involved in a confusing and much-criticized angle with Charlotte Flair and her father, Ric Flair. Lacey was being mentored by Slick Ric, though there were intimations that there was more to their relationship. The storyline ground to a sudden halt when Evans announced she was pregnant (in real life) and immediately left TV.

She returned several weeks ago in a series of vignettes on SmackDown where she gave very graphic details about her life - stories of family addiction, abuse, neglect and other challenges. After weeks of the buildup, Evans re-debuted a couple of weeks ago, but seemed to be giving off a heel vibe.

Then suddenly and without warning, Evans was transferred over to Raw last week, and all traces of her potential heel turn seemed to vanish. Now, she's poised to return to in-ring action next week.

Evans has been a hit-or-miss superstar during her time on the main roster. She's shown flashes of potential, but she's been hindered by poor booking (shocking) and a character that seemed to suffer from multiple personality disorder, as she was simultaneously an ex-Marine, a throwback to a 40s pin-up girl, a sassy southern belle, and just a cocky heel.

Here's hoping they've got stuff ironed out this time around.
