WWE Raw hit an all-time ratings low this week, slumping to new records in overall viewership (1.53 million) and the key 18-49 demographic (0.41) for a poorly-received TLC 2020 go-home show, albeit against intense competition from a big, important NFL game.

Regardless, the numbers are objectively abject, particularly as Raw's 18-49 number was lower than last week's episode of AEW Dynamite despite the gulf in resources between the two promotions.

WWE's backstage reaction to the slide has now been revealed by WrestleVotes:-

"Reactionary decisions" is open-ended enough to mean anything, really, but while WWE's most important source of revenue once again bottoming out should lead to self-reflection and eliminating the problems that brought Raw to this point, the past two decades tell us that swooping changes to WWE television are unlikely.

The great hope with the Wednesday Night Wars was that they would create an "iron sharpens iron" situation. Clearly, they hasn't. For better or worse, Raw and SmackDown are largely of the same standard as they were a year ago, while NXT hasn't bested AEW's 18-49 rating in almost a full calendar year.

Will the latest all-time low (and defeat to Dynamite) bring change to a change-resistant company? Time will tell, but don't hold your breath.
