Major Favourite To Leave WWE When Contract Expires
This popular star has given notice they'll be departing WWE this summer.
With several WWE contracts coming up for renewal this spring and summer, it was only a matter of time before someone decided to let their deal expire and strike out on their own.
PWInsider.com reports that Ricochet has given notice to WWE that he will leave the company when his contract ends this summer. The site reportedly confirmed this "with multiple sources", and it's expected the One and Only will be written out of storylines soon in advance of his departure. The Raw superstar currently has been embroiled in a feud with Bron Breakker and a friendly rivalry with Ilja Dragunov in recent weeks.
Although he is currently recognized as the WWE Speed Champion, Ricochet lost that X-only title to Andrade in a taping on Friday night, which will be broadcast on 14 June.
One source told PWInsider they gave Ricochet "all the credit in the world for betting on himself". Joining WWE via NXT in 2018, Ricochet has held the NXT North American Championship, Intercontinental Championship, and United States Championship. He and tag partner Aleister Black also won the 2019 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic before debuting on Raw together in 2019.
Ricochet's run in WWE has been a mixed bag, as he is often cited as one of several wrestlers who were badly mishandled by the company, with several start-stop pushes. Last summer, he had a high-profile SummerSlam match against Logan Paul, receiving plenty of praise, but save for an appearance in the 2024 Royal Rumble, that was his last PLE appearance.
The high-flier's contract status has received a fair amount of attention from some notable wrestlers. AEW International Champion Will Ospreay has said he wants to wrestle Ricochet again, while AEW World Heavyweight Champion Swerve Strickland made his views known via X shortly after PWInsider's story went live:

Prior to WWE, Ricochet wrestled in New Japan Pro Wrestling, EVOLVE, Dragon Gate, and Lucha Underground (as Prince Puma). If he does indeed leave WWE, he is expected to be a highly courted talent.
