Major WWE Star To Retire Through Injury?
This multi-time WWE Champion could be in trouble.
Sheamus' WWE career is on ice at the moment, with the former WWE Champion currently sidelined through a concussion.
He wrestled at WrestleMania 35 and on the subsequent episodes of Raw and SmackDown but hasn't been seen since, and with long-time tag partner Cesaro joining Raw in the Superstar Shake-Up, the Irishman's card position is in doubt. Now, sadly, it looks like his wrestling career might be as well.
Speculation stemming from a recent Fightful Select Q&A suggests that 'The Celtic Warrior' might be wrestling on borrowed time, with Rajah.com reporting that there is a growing fear backstage that Sheamus is "winding his career down."
Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp said that many people within WWE "were surprised Sheamus could still wrestle as effectively as he could," with one wrestler telling him that if the big man "got through WrestleMania, that'd be really awesome."
Spinal stenosis is the root of the 41-year-old's problems. December 2017 brought reports that Sheamus was suffering from this incurable abnormal narrowing of the spine, and that it may eventually lead to his premature retirement, as it did for Edge and 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. Whatever happens, let's hope he makes the best choice for his long-term health.
