Mark Henry Signs Multi-Year, Multi-Role AEW Contract
The World's Strongest Man is #AllElite for multiple years.
With this past weekend’s Double or Nothing PPV revealing that Mark Henry had joined All Elite Wrestling, AEW has now moved to officially confirm Henry’s signing and the role he’ll take up with Tony Khan’s promotion.
In a company statement, it was explained how the World’s Strongest Man has signed a multi-year deal that will see him pull double duty as both a broadcaster and in the development of AEW talent.
The press release described the WWE Hall of Famer’s AEW role as that of “an expert analyst, coach, scout and mentor within the company”.
As was detailed at Double or Nothing, that analyst gig will feature Henry as an announcer on the upcoming AEW Rampage show. Premiering on 13 August, AEW Rampage will be a one-hour weekly broadcast that’s set to air on TNT at 10pm EST each and every Friday. Much like AEW Dynamite, Rampage will moved from TNT to TBS in 2022.
On this news, Tony Khan enthused:
“It’s an honour to welcome Mark Henry to AEW. Mark came into pro wrestling already established as a legendary powerlifter, and he applied his greatest tools, his cerebral approach to sport and his unprecedented work ethic, to become a legendary pro wrestler as well.
The mission of AEW is to be the best wrestling product in the world today. Mark’s illustrious presence and his great wrestling acumen will be tremendous assets to our company and our content, as we’ll utilize his esteemed presence not only on-screen, but also in the career development of our stars for the future.”
From the hulking Henry himself:
"The overall quality of professional wrestling has skyrocketed in the past few years, and I’ve been very impressed by the meteoric rise of AEW. I’m excited to join the broadcast team on AEW Rampage, and I can’t wait to work with the incredible roster at AEW.”
