Cain Velasquez wasn't the only quiet WWE cut whose release wasn't officially announced by the company when they let go of and furloughed dozens of staff and wrestlers on and around Black Wednesday (15 April).

This is according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, who reports that the promotion let go of several other names without public confirmation, meaning more situations like Cain's could be right around the corner.

Dave Meltzer broke the news of Velasquez's WWE release on Tuesday. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion was let go after just a single televised match in the promotion, having lost to Brock Lesnar at Super ShowDown 2019, likely on account of his big-money contract. Still, that he wasn't mentioned alongside the likes of Rusev, Zack Ryder, Sarah Logan, and Rowan on 15 April raised eyebrows.

Recent weeks have seen other outlets report that a cluster of released and furloughed NXT and Performance Center wrestlers, plus backstage staffers, went unannounced as well. One of these trickled through the net with Monday's news that Hall of Famer Gerald Brisco had been furloughed, so it's safe to assume that more might be on the way.
